How to care for your fleece
These simple care instructions will help you learn how to get the most out of your Pocket Pal’s liners and pads and give your Pocket Pal’s the most clean and comfortable home possible.
Prepare your new fleece
You must wash and dry your liner or pads at least twice before using them to start the wicking process.
Washing and drying your new liner or pad will condition the fleece and begin the wicking process.
We recommend washing and fully drying the liner or pad at least twice before use in the cage.
Recommended Wash Temperature: Cold, No Fabric Softener
Recommended Dry Temperature: Low Or Line Dry, No Dryer Sheets
Recommended Laundry Soap: Any Soap Free And Clear With No Additives Plus 1 Cup Vinegar
Not required for forests, tunnels or other items. Wicking is required on liners and pads only
Maintain your fleece with regular washing
Once a Day – Give the liner a quick sweep with a brush to spot clean
Once a Week – Remove your liner or pad from the cage and shake any dirt or waste into the trash or outside. Then wash the liner or pad according to instructions:
Recommended Wash Temperature: Cold, No Fabric Softener
Recommended Dry Temperature: Low or Line Dry, No Dryer Sheets
Recommended Laundry Soap: Any Soap Free And Clear With No Additives
Additional tips:
- Fabric softener and dryer sheets will have a negative effect on the wicking process.
- Adding ½ cup of white distilled vinegar to the wash and/or rinse cycles will improve wicking and we absolutely recommend doing this for your first two washes.
- Be sure to fully dry your liner between initial washes
- Don’t use too much detergent, and make sure that your detergent doesn’t contain fabric softener.
